The history of the Montafon, and especially of Bartholomäberg and the Silbertal, is closely associated with the medieval mining industry.
Together with the University of Innsbruck, the parish of Silbertal and the Panoramagasthof Kristberg, the Kristberg cable car network has established the new educational "Silver Trail", with a view to explaining the history of mining and the related modern scientific research.
The trail is especially popular with families and special interest groups. By means of twelve partially interactive information stations set in beautiful unspoilt natural surroundings, visitors are introduced to the fascination of the mining industry.
At the end of the trail, located near the miners' chapel and below the Panoramagasthof Kristberg, the "World of Silver" is a further attraction for children. A variety of interactive games brings the mining industry vividly to life, and allows children to immerse themselves in and identify with the working life of the miners.
Weekly guided tours are held between July and September.
